Spring Training

Hey All,  took a break from blogging in order to study for the MCAT. Wow! it's been fun, not. Anyways, the test is on April 6, then I am planning on going hog-wild on the climbing. And in order to do that, I've been training a bit on my study breaks.
One of my favorite places to get back in the swing of climbing is at Hammond Pond, in Newton MA. It's two miles from the library I study at, and it's a classic scene. I've always described it as a giant hangboard you can make a few moves on. The other day I met a really cool cat named Yarian Gomez, who snapped the above picture of me doing my circuit on the Alcove wall, which goes V0, V3, V1, V1, V1, V2, V2, V3, V4, V0, which is essentially climbing every straight up problem on the alcove wall that from left to right, including some "obscure" ones that aren't listed on mountainproject (I swear I am not an obscure-loving hipster!). I add sit starts to some to keep it interesting.  The weather has been prime here, so it's hard not to be motivated!! More to come. Thanks for reading! Pat.

100% OF THE PROCEEDS GO TO ACCESS FUND!!!

This was a really fun project that internet/climbing media dynamo Jon Glassberg wrangled me into. Here's what he had to say.
The Access Fund helps make sure you DON'T see signs like this en route to the crag.

"Hi everyone!  We finished up the calendar last night. Check it out and help us raise money for the access fund!  last year we made over $500 and we are hoping to do the same this year!  Help us spread the word and sell as many of these as we can!  I mean, $3 is not much right!  all you have to do is download it and if you want to print it out just take the file to the printers and for under $10 you have a Men of Route Setting hanging on your wall!"

Dark Horse Championships Gallery Live

Not exactly a "try hard" face, but at least Daniel Woods looked like he was a bit challenged by the Dark Horse problems en route to his second win in Boston.
